“The LRRK2 kinase inhibitors may inhibit the spread of pathologic alpha-synuclein, not only in patients with LRRK2 mutations, but in all Parkinson’s disease patients. Future studies to validate the safety and efficacy of the LRRK2 inhibitors will be necessary before testing the inhibitors in human clinical trials.”
I think it is good news.
However, from the above extract I get the impression that any new PD drug which might result from this research is still a few years away.
It's definitely a positive thing. It's been a topic of research for at least a couple of years that I've heard of. Hopefully they are getting close to trialing on humans soon. Be well. Judy
