I'm taking four and a half a day,spaced over waking hours,have more off time ,than on.do I need to increase dose.The of time just appears very quickly.Also on azielect and 8 Neupro.

What is the frequency and quantity of each dose? I find that smaller doses taken more frequently work best for me.

When do you see you specialist next. They might be the best place to start.

Specialist says I should adjust the four and a half over course of the day.

But if that's not working you need to feed that back to her/him. There are their things you could do so still, I suggest you check back with them .

You may want to do a motor diary to give to Neuro. Form is at this link ( parkinsons.va.gov/resources... )

Also from my wife's experience with increase dosage if you can handle the off time I think you are better with less sinement.

Hi Palace69,

In order to help in any way it is useful to have some basic background information:

your age & gender

where do you live (country)

how long since diagnosis

what form did the diagnosis (dx) take eg was there a DATscan, physical/motor testing

what meds are you taking for 1) PD 2) any other conditions

what are your symptoms?

I was dxd 12 yrs ago as a result of taking part in a nerve trial. My 1st serious treatments were 3mg Requip SL (generic ropinirole slow release) which causes nausea & to counter the nausea Omeprazole. I was also prescribed Sinemet but at a dose which made me think I was dying (sleeping all the time, falling, passing out etc etc). Once I came slowly off the Sinemet & slowly titrated up the Requip to 8mg I gradually began to improve (ie tremor got less, other symptoms above went away, stiffness & twisting of body improved). Today I still take 8mg Requip & the time is now right for me to take Sinemet.

Too much of any of these meds will actually cause the symptoms they are designed to treat - as will not enough so it is very important to get treatment from an experienced practitioner.

Out of interest - where did the advice on total quantity of Sinemet per day come from?

People with a similar PD history to mine here in UK are advised that from 10 years we should be taking up to 6 tablets (units) of Sinemet+ a day spread as evenly as possible from waking. This can be modified in various ways which I am happy to discuss with you via messaging on the site.

Thanks.Honeycombe3.Male 66years old.diagnosis 3years, had a brain scan and motor testing,live in Spain and England.See neurologist in Spain every 3 months.at the moment I take 4 1/2 sinement a day.1 azielect and 1 .8mg Neupro patch.Thanks for your time. The meds have been changed recently.it was 12 mg Neupro .3 sinement 1 azielect.

Go back to your specialist. The idea here is quality of life. I take 2 senimet 1 comtan every 3 hrs stating at 9am and don't take anything after last dose at 6pm. I where a 4ml neupro patch 24 hr and function well about 85% of the time. To me my quality of life is great with that. I see my specialist every 6 month's and we make changes as we go to maintain quality. By the way I am only 55 diagnosed 10 years ago. Remember you want quality of life.
