Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) is the program I have been talking about. It is a non-profit org. strictly for PwP's at every level, every age & it's non-contact boxing in addition to all types of other exercises, squats, push-ups, beachball volleyball, treadmill, weights, etc. I started RSB in Jan. 2007 (RSB started in Oct. 2006 in Indianapolis, IN) & it does wonders in more ways than one. The exercise slows the progression & it's like a support group because you can go there & not have to feel self conscious about your symptoms & you can talk to others about your meds, how you're feeling, etc. Here is a video of Leslie Stahl interviewing her husband that has PD, in NYC. It also has a snippet of the Indy gym (I'm doing speedbag at the 1:48 timeframe). A lot of neurologists in Indy & other states are now writing prescriptions for their patients to go directly to RSB. We're are growing as we speak. There are over 90 affiliates in the U.S. & a some internationally. Here is Leslie Stahl's video that aired on nat'l TV. She also interviews Dr. Stephanie Combs-Miller from University of Indpls. that has done a 2 hr research study that shows it slows the progression...
