I was diagnosed with early onset parkinsons and have very little energy, I fight to get things done. I used to be a person who gets things done around the house but now it's exstremely hard.
Is there something a person can do? Should I just push through it?
Any thoughts

what is your age and what symptoms do you have and what meds do you take.
Is it motivation to do something or lack of energy.
Hi Donny, I'm 51 and I'm stiff on my right side and lack the motivation and energy. I never was a person to lazy all day. I'm taking Levocarb 25 mg 2 1/2tablets 4 times a day. Plus Azilect 1 tablet a day.
If you are healthy other wise. It may sound hard to believe (in my opinion) you need to get more exercise. You should make it a priority. This will make you stronger and give you more stamina. And loosen up your muscles. My meds are the same as yours.
I am a man 62 years old 9 years with Pd 25 years if you count early signs. I felt the same way up to 10 months ago before i found Crossfit and started exercising. I have lost 30 lbs and am better now than 5 years ago.
I am not promoting Crossfit there are plenty of other programs to choose from. They should be challenging and include stretching, endurance, strength. You can start slow maybe 3 times a week and work your way up. Exercise is a must to help you deal With PD.
Don't let this work out bother you the coach at my gym adjust it to every ones ability not every one does the full work out.
This is a typical crossfit work out i do 4 or 5 times a week that takes about a hour
Warm-Up
50 Double Unders (jump rope 150 times)
20 Good Mornings (bend at waist 90 degrees with 45 lb bar bell on back of
neck )
20 Push Ups
Strength
3 RM HCL(Unbroken) max weight power clean 3 times i do 120 lb
MetCons
10/21/15
12 Min AMRAP (as many as reps as possible)
Run 100 meters
10 Push Ups
10 Squats
Cool Down
Walk 200m
2 min Squat Hold
my personal best
350 lb dead lift
260 lb back squat
190 lb front squat
i also bike about 60 miles a week
More activity - If I have a lazy day or two I feel knackered. Keeping busy physically works for me.
Exercise is part of the answer. It not only makes you stronger it gives something to focus on and to talk about other than PD. When i exercise i forget for that hour that i have PD.
Our energy and ATP production all takes place within our mitochondria - and unfortunately mitochondrial dysfunction is a prominent feature of Parkinson's. Fortunately, there are effective ways address this faltering energy metabolism process with certain dietary supplements (for those who dare venture beyond the dictates of their conventional practitioners). i guess i'm running the same path as you are, so what i do, is when something really bothers me, like floor needing vacuuming etc. then i do it. i also specify a time to clean -up the house etc. and follow thru on that time. to do it. no excuses. i feel the same about exercising, knowing that i feel better when i do them. i guess it's just a matter of gettin' roun' to it. but my mom always said there is no time like the present. but for each of these things that i get to doing , i always feel better. i like to try to fight back with getting things done. and i do eventually. good luck.
