I am a 71 year old female, diagnosed with Pd for 20 years. Three years ago, I had very successful bilateral DBS surgery. For several years I have had left leg pain. I have had several cortisone injections in L4 and L5 also in my hamstring bursa. None have improved the pain. Does anyone have any thoughts?
Left Leg Pain: I am a 71 year old female... - Cure Parkinson's
Left Leg Pain
I have back problems at L4-L5 as well. My Parkinson's leg pain is in both legs, but when I get leg pain from my back injury it feels much sharper and is generally on only one side, my left.
To me it sounds like your back problems are causing your leg pain. Are your hips and hamstrings tight all the time? and are you doing any physical therapy?
I too have back problems and leg pain. Physical therapy, chiropractic and massage help me the most. This is followed by my cocktail of parkinsons mess along with gabapentin, tumeric and another supplement called zyflamend. Good luck, I've been dealing with the back pain for 30 or so years.
Seems like my husband has a LOT of the problems that others are experiencing. He also suffers greatly with what he calls" leg pain." From the chiropracter and his primary, he's been told that it's probably sciatica, a nerve problem, with damage that is located in the lower back area. The pain is "referred" to the back of the calf and throbs all day and often, into the night. It is worsened by sitting too much. He hasn't had an MRI yet because he has so many other problems and they're not sure what they would do about the problem anyway because he's 81. Pain meds made him almost incoherent so he doesn't take them. BY the way, he also has painful tingling/cold in the left toes that he's not sure are connected to the sciatica or are neuropathy.
Is your leg cramping? I had cramping, cured by massaging daily with vibrator.
