Hoe is your expirience with PD?

Unfortunately coconut oil will not cure PD. So far, nothing has been verified as a cure for PD. You can certainly try coconut oil, but please do not stop taking your medications. So far, the only non-medical interventions that have been shown to mitigate PD symptoms are various forms of exercise: cycling, dance, tai chi. You may experience a placebo effect from coconut oil but I shudder to think of how your body would react from stopping your medications. All the best.

Never stop taking your meds without medical advice. There can be some serious health risks if you do things wrong.

Before believing that coconut oil cures Parkinson's I want to see some scientific data on datscans before and after a course of it. It might help the symptoms but will not cure you.

I hate to tell you but coconut oil will NOT cure Parkinsons! Nothing will! But, after reading about the oils on here, we are going to add it to our diet. My husband was diagnosed in 2008 at 56 yrs. old. He is on the nupro patch, stelevo, azilect, and had the Deep Brain Stimulation a year ago. Its still a devastating disease and tough on a marriage (even of 38 years).

First of all congrat on your marriage I'm going for my 30th and still alive, how ever my wife insist to do the DBS and my Neurologist says that i'm still not a candidate for this procedure, how does your husband react to this issue DBS?

I'm sorry to be so slow in responding. New to the site and didn't notice my posting had been replied to. Thanks for the congrats on the 38 years but these are sure not the "early" retirement years we had anticipated. We have always been given an "above-average" rating on the enjoyment of our marriage but in the recent past - I was ready to empty one of our rental houses and stay there myself!

Anybody else have problems with paranoia. My husband (understandably so), has really had issues with insecurity, fear of my leaving him, accusing me of no longer loving him and (not to get too gushy here) and stuff of this nature that appalls me and is so undeserved. I need to find a site for spouses and caregivers I think.

Why does your neuro say you are not a candidate? Are you doing too well as it is? They also say that patients with tremors tend to see better results. We go back for about the 5th "tweak" since he had the surgery a year ago on Dec. 15th. Neither of us is thrilled with the results at all. Not sure he is any better than he was when just on meds.

We were VERY excited and the worse part of the DBS was the days before a procedure when he had to come off his MEDS ENTIRELY! Wow, now that makes water-boarding look like wake-boarding!
