I use Lou Ana "Pure", which I get from the Walmart bakery aisle for about $8 per quart (actually 30 oz). It costs a bit more in the pharmacy or health food section.Organic is good if you want the coconut flavor and odor. Pure has no flavor or odor. Some PWP have good results with either. If it has been heated during processing, it may be partially hydrogenated. Check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocon... for processing options.

I have been using Carrington Organic Coconut Oil for about a year now. A friend recommended i try it to fight a constant bladder infection. I had to self-categorise every night before bed time because I could never totally empty, causing a constant infection. Believe me, it's no fun thing to do every night. I would take one tablespoon of the white awful oil but then I found that if I nuked it for 10 seconds, it wasn't so bad. So, the first thing in the morning I take one tablespoon oil and swish it around in my mouth for 15 minutes, while taking my shower etc. I was told that the oil would kill bacteria in my mouth, which should help with my problem. Then I spit out the oil into a container so as not to wash it down and plug the drain. Then I take one more tablespoon oil, same nuking, and then swallow it. Not too bad tasting. Would you believe that in about one month I was able to completely empty my bladder WITHOUT using a catheter. It's been almost a year now and not one infection. My doctor can't believe it but I am his proof that it can work. I also have PK and can't say it makes a difference for my PK. Good luck

I believe that what you described can be classed as oil pulling, a process which caused quite a stir on my coconut oil recipe post. Most people who are trying to deal with Parkey issues use larger amounts than you describe. I personally use 2 T at each meal and two at bedtime, for 8 T a day.

I am happy to hear that it worked with you for a significant problem. Good luck!
