dbs in michigan?

Does anyone have any experience with dbs at University of Michigan? I have read everyone saying to find a good programmer but How do you know if someone is a good programmer?

One thing that would greatly serve our community would be a directory of dbs surgeons and programmers. One didn't exist when I had my surgery two years ago and I don't think there's one now. I don't know Michigan, my experience is in Pittsburgh. I have an excellent programmer here.

How did you find your programmer or did he/she just come with the "package" of the surgeon and others involved?

I tried two; chose the one who came with the package. There are different approaches and one style can match your needs better than another in my experience.
