Exercise, Exercise, Exercise

I have been diagnosed just over 11 years and my Parkinson's is stable thanks to my Exercise regime plus my drugs of course. I started adding weights when one day I couldn't lift myself out the bath and now I can "triceps dip my body weight"

If you are interested, I have written a paper called Realistic Improvement in Parkinson's through Exercise (R.I.P.E.) which I intend to further develop. I can send a copy to anyone who wants to Email me at bob.raeburn@hotmail.co.uk - no charge, it is my mission to get every PwP exercising

Kind regards

Bob

I'm interested in your program. I've been doing weights and they have definitely put on muscle but I'm interested in additional for helping with walking problems (gait). thanks

Hi Cobirman

I don't have any knowledge on gait problems - other than that the boxing training I attend does help with my staying on my feet after tripping.

I am a PwP with no specialist knowledge - just experience f the condition

There are good private pages on Facebook for PwP and you would get more specific help from them

Kind regards

Bob

I agree with Bob, exercise is key. My neurologist recommends cardio 6 days a week. I also do core exercises and the LSVT Big therapy exercises every day, along with the Big walking. I don't know if it is the exercise, the meds, or good luck or both but I haven't had any advancement in symptoms in the past year and a half since I was diagnosed. I am hoping the exercise will help keep me mobile for many years.

My neuro, a research doctor, says many clinical trials have shown: so far the ONLY NEUROPROTECTIVE IS EXERCISE!!!!
