A few days ago I went into hospital as a day patient for injections to help very severe back and leg pain. Whilst these have helped a lot I now have a Parkinsons tremor in both legs. Before this, I had a tremor in my right arm and never in my legs. Has anyone else had this treatment and had similar results? Will the tremor settle down?
Injections for back pain: A few days ago I... - Cure Parkinson's
Injections for back pain
Hi Sue, were you given any medication for anti-nausea? There are certain anti-nausea medications that Parkinson's patients should not take as it will cause the Parkinson's to worsen.one in particular that my Neuro told me to never take is phenergan
Hi Cheri, No I was not given any anti-nausea medication. Pain quite good, but tremor in leg is something else. Does Phenergan have any other names?
Another name for Phenergan is Promethazine. My neurologist also told me to not take dopamine antagonist drugs such as Reglan or Maxeran (metoclopramide) or Compazine or Stemetil (prochlorperazine) for nausea. Gravol is a useful drug choice and can be given by mouth, suppository, and injection. (Domperidone only prevents the nausea associated with antiparkinson drugs).
Do you think that stopping your Parkinson's drugs temporarily for the procedure might be the cause of the tremors in both legs? A couple of years ago, when I had surgery, my Parkinson's meds were stopped the night before. After the surgery, which was in the early morning hours, I was not given my PD drugs timely. It was 9 pm before I was given my PD meds. I had gone almost 24 hours without my medication. By that time the entire left side of my body was tremoring violently. We learned a hard lesson from this. If I am to be hospitalized, my husband administers my PD drugs. The hospital and nursing staff do not like it; but he is Papa Bear and refuses to surrender my medication. The nursing staff may have an emergency, or just get so busy that they don't always administer the PD drugs timely, and we know that can be detrimental to us.
I hope you are feeling better
I continued taking my Parkinson drugs throughout the procedure so I did not miss any meds. I felt better with less tremor yesterday, but had a really tiring day and the tremor, and some breakthrough pain, are back today. I will have to take things easy and hope this helps. I am not taking any of the drugs you mention. Hope you are ok.
I have recently started injections on back. Procedure called Radiofrequency Ablation. Will go next week for next set of injections on right side of spine. I have not noticed an increase in tremor in legs. Is this the same procedure you had done?
can you get medical marijuana where you are? if you can you might just try it….
