Does anyone know of a good artificial sweetener or reduced calorie sugar that someone has not declared to be harmful for use by PwP?

Thanks for your response. I am a borderline diabetic, which limits use of sugar or honey. I spend most of my time working in the yard and garden, which presents a problem staying hydrated. Am seeking a sugar free sweetener that can be mixed with, for instance, lemon juice and water as an alternative to water alone.

We use stevia. I am unaware of whether it has been determined if it or any other sugar substitute is ok for PWP.

The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture once banned Stevia until further testing showed no harmful effects. It now appears to be one of the best.

I used to use Equal, but cut back on its use a year or so ago when aspartame was accused of having bad side effects. I now find nothing in current printed information to cause much concern.

Thanks for your information.

All artificial sweeteners are harmful. Stevia is not artificial and probably is beneficial. If you can tolerate it, local (to you) honey is also healthful.

We use local honey, lots of orchards in our area. I use it for all my baking too. Have never used artificial sweeteners and got away from using granulated sugar many years ago.
