Hi, has Azilect (rasagiline) stopped the ... - Cure Parkinson's
Hi, has Azilect (rasagiline) stopped the tremors for anyone?
didn't do anything for me been on it about three months
Hello Fruityastill
I've been on it a couple of weeks or so and hoping it will assist the Sinemet I'm also on to dampen tremor even more.
Tell me please, are you taking Azilect as a mono therapy or with other medications(s).?

Are there any medication that can stop the tremors? I have been on Requip,Azilect, - done nothing. I am taking 10 mg Parkilyne and ..375 mg Pexola XL. Hope that prevents the progress of PD.
Azilect was the first drug I took at my initial diagnosis for PD. I could be the poster girl for Azilect. It took care of my tremors which are primarily on my left side. After eight years on just Azilect, I recently started on Sinemet. The combination of the two is continuing to work on my symptoms. It is important to remember that each person responds differently to medications and it's crucial to work closely with your neurologist to find the right medications for you.
I also take 1200 mg of CoQ10 daily, 1000 mcg of B12, and 2000 Vit D.
when you're on 6 meds, it's hard to tell what is responsible for what good outcome or side effect
Hello JeanetteCW
So I'm understanding that you recently started taking Sinemet because the Azilect alone stopped
working for you, is that correct? I believe the natural vitamin supplements is a big plus.
My husband refused to take meds from the time of his diagnosis 7 years ago. He has only been taking natural vitamins and supplements. His neurologist says he is progressing slowly and considers him to be a mild case, however, have been unable to stop the tremors which bother him very much.
I tried it but only for about 5 days - gave me a constant headache and it didn't seem to do anything for symptoms of tremor, foot shuffling.
I do take Mucuna, which is an herbal L-dopa. It seems to help, I think, but I have not been off of it, so I can't say for sure how much it helps.
I am newly diagnosed, but looking back, symptoms have probably been happening for at least 4 or 5 years.
Azilect was the first medication in my fighting the good fight. I came off after I took part in a clinical trial which included Azilect as one of their clinical mix drugs. at that point my neurologist recommended a different mix based on my status at the time. I recently had it added back into the mix, based on the tremors that had reappeared. What a mistake ... I was on a titration schedule to bring me up to the level that the neurologist was hoping to obtain, which was only 1mg per day, I started out with a 1/2mg, once a day for a month, then kick it to the full 1mg/day. After a week of the 1/2 mg/day my tremors had subsided to the degree that I barely knew they were there. In their place was a boatload of cognitive issues. I stammered every time I tried to speak, my voice modulation was on a roller-coaster ride from Hell, I would try to speak and couldn't remember what I had intended to say. My night-drooling, which had pretty much disappeared came roaring back with a vengeance. I pretty much thought I was on the express train to complete dementia. Stopped the Azilect, stopped the brain scramble. Now that I'm off the Azilect, I still have a few tremors, but I've got my mind back ... easy trade-off
For the record, I take Amantadine 100mg/3 times a day; trihexyphenidryl 2mg, 1 mg in am, 1/2mg at lunch and in the evening; and Requipp XL, 16mg/day.
Azilect worked for me in the beginning, but didn't when it was added in with a mix of other drugs. But ultimately, my answer to your question, Azilect stopped my tremors, but at a price I didn't want to pay.
I have taken Azilect for 3 years. It helped control of the tremors for the first two years. Last year my doctor added Sinemet when my tremors became worse again. As long as I have the combination of meds taken on time, I have pretty good results. I did have a lot of problems with nausea and vomiting when I started taking Sinemet, I now take it with food which has helped.
haven't tried yet.
