Is there an association between prenatal environment (in the uterus, the mother's health, emotional state) and PD later in life?

My husband's mother had multiple miscarriages and even one still birth. (I can only imagine her emotional state).

He was his parent's only child.

I have never heard of an association between prenatal enviroment and the mother's health.

. I have Parkinson's Disease and my mother had no miscarriages, still births and/or emotional state . No one on both sides of my family have ever had PD. There is a link with Agent Orange and Veterans getting PD. I myself was exposed frequently to DDT. So that is where I may have gotten it.

Like so much about PD, no one knows. For Young Onset it seems likely and it may even be influenced by three or more previous generations. Read here amatterofbalance.wordpress....

There's an overwhelming evidence of a link between pesticides and Parkinson's. There's an article in the January/February 2012 issue of Sierra Magazine titled Parkinson's Alley. It outlines how a pregnant woman drinking contaminated well water from pesticides passes this on to the unborn child. A deformed gene remains dormant until sometime in adulthood a "tipping point" offers and PD symptoms appear. I fit this model. I can't be 100%, but the circumstances with my Mom's pregnancy if myself are the same.

my husband when he was young stayed with his aunt and uncle on Cape Cod. The uncle spread powdered sevin, a pesticide, all around the foundation to keep out ants. Sevin was in use until recently, if memory serves. The City he grew up in had a lot of jewelry manufacturing, so pollutants like cadmium and arsenic were dumped in streams and wetlands. We have two superfund sites in the City, one where Texas Instruments dumped radioactive and toxic waste. That has never been dealt with.

since it's multi-causal and of unknown causation, it really helps to have your feedback. We think my husband's grandfather had PD. He was from Scotland. Thank you.

thank you for your response and your blessing.

Another thing I heard or read years back is that people with PD tend to be careful in their work and "scrupulous" in making sure everything is done and done well. Not perfectionism but really taking care of details. He worked himself hard, and modeled for those who worked for him, how to complete tasks. He worked as a data processing manager and then entered the ministry. These traits served him well,
