My first posting! PD's first symptom for me was a 'vibrato' in my right hand. As an enthusiastic amateur Violinist this was a disaster. A trainee GP spotted it while treating an Eye infection. The rest is only too familiar to you all. I would love to be able to control it, if only for an hour at a time.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for replying. Yes, I am being treated. I see my specialist tomorrow. I'm hoping to have some results from my own 'research' to discuss with her .
Okay, the tremor causing your vibrato sound when you play is maybe not a symptom of PD. Resting tremor is a symptom of PD. But when your hand is doing something like using the bow it should in my experience not exhibit a tremor. So, what I am going to suggest first is purchase or fashion a light wrist weight for your bow arm/hand to see if that dampens the tremor you are experiencing while playing your instrument. Second get a second opinion on the diagnosis. I hope I have helped you. Be well.
Had a second thought and a question.. Your eye infection? Were you prescribed Azithromycin or Doxycycline or another antibiotic? Was that effective or is the inflammation persistent? i ask because we know of research that finds "suggestive conclusion" there could be a link between some patient's PD and an ocular pneumonia.
Thank you for your help. My consultation for eye problem was only a blocked tear duct The good thing that came from it was the suggestion I could have PD. I was referred to a Neurologist who diagnosed Parkinsons. As I also had pains in my head, as opposed to headaches, he sent me for a brain scan to eliminate any other nasties.
Initially I had a typical tremor at rest but now it's more constant. It's as much as I can do to control it now as I type on my iPhone with the help of a stylus.
l will look into your suggestion of using a weight, although I hadn't heard of it before.
Those pains in your head, were they lined up as though from an inflamed nerve from the temple alongside the effected eye upward to an area above your ear on that side? What did the doctor do to open the blocked tear duct? Coincidentally, I have a reddened sclera in the corner of my right eye since Wednesday last week. Probably a blocked tear duct. My doctor gave me a script today for Cipro 0.03% eye drops every 2 hours while waking for 2 days. So far it seems to be making it worse. :(.
Buzz: be careful of CIPRO and the FLOROQUINOLONE antibiotics. One pill I passed out few yrs ago. Google immediately. Use other antibiotics. Doc should know better.
If you were to use your conscious brain to control the 'vibrato' it would be slower than the subconscious way you do it at the moment. It might get faster with practice.
I admire you guys being able to play such a difficult instrument.
I'm new here. I played guitar for 40 years. Had auditions for Poison, David Lee Roth, John Mellencamp. Last show was October 2011. Sold my collectors Jacksons, Charvels, sold my Paul Stanley models, sold my Marshalls. Sold my stage gear, sold all home recording.
I'd give anything to have my right hand leave me alone for a couple of hours every night to play again.
