I used to have a foot that dragged as I move about for example in the kitchen. This developed into proper gait freezing where I am almost unable to move and very nearly fall. This is my worst symptom but taking Madopar which is functionally the same as Sinemet means that, until a dose wears off, I can move about normally.

Try taking big sidesteps. It works for me.

My advice would be to have a review of your meds to start with.

have you tried APOKYN it is injected and it gave me my life back. It is the Best med I have had yet.it is injected with a epipen . I inject sub que and in 10 minutes I can walk and move it . I use it when I get up in the am, this is my worse time.I still work and am able to drive.,I have had PD for 8 years.

I too had stickey legs in fact it's waht drove me after a year and a half to find out what the heck was going on! It's was during my quest I got the answer I never expected it was being cause by PD. Me PD no way but unfornately it was true, Today my neurologist has me on a regiment of Azilect and Sinemet. While I will still exhibit a slight dragging of the leg ,when I try doing too much only then it becomes obvious. Too much meaning like heavy yard work to the point of gettiing getting exhausted

we address this in our classes for pwp's. Yesterday in Alexander Technique we made a rule : No shuffling! HAHA. Anyway, we learn mental and physical strategies for when we find ourselves frozen to the floor, like saying ' heel, toe, heel, toe' Or look on YouTube for Pamela Quinn. Or google Sheryl Klingenhoffer.

Hi muragod

I am not a doctor! I have had Pd symptoms since 1963; yes, 50 years ago. I found that my feet got stuck to the ground, in 1980. I did not know until 1992 that I had Pd. I have found that all the movement problems I have, relate to actions I do, without having to think about them. This includes: walking, writing, bringing food to my mouth, dealing cards, typing, in fact most things I do every day. Why is this? It is, in my opinion, because they are all movements I control with my subconscious brain. I found, after many years of walking badly, that if I concentrated on the actual movement, I was able to overecome this problem. In other words, my conscious brain was able to take over the movement control. When I freeze, I concentrate on lifting my knee in the air and then putting my heel down in a position in front of me, thus starting the walking action. I show PwPs who have this problem, how to do this. They have always been able to will their feet to move but that does not work any longer. They have to actually think of the actual movement and not try and will the legs to move. You try it!

I have been able to walk better since I have regular physiotherapy where I do a lot of walking exercises. They take a lot of concentration but I think my brain is controlling my gait better.
