Broken Hair

Am I alone in this? My once beautiful hair is getting thin, dry, and literally breaks. It actually doesn't seem to be growing. I've tried special shampoos, treatments, and even my hairdresser is bumfuzzled!

No, you are not alone. I´ve got the same problem. My hair just drops off (is that the right verb?). It started about year ago when I started Sinemet. For some time it was better, but then it started again. My hair is very thin nowadays, but there is coming new hair all the time - luckily.

My hairdresser said that my scalp is very inflexible, o the stiffnes is there, too. And when thte scalp is stiff, the hair doesn´t grow, because the roots of the hair dont´t get nutrients.

I have the same problem. You can see my scalp through what is left of my hair. It also it dried and fried looking. I use a defrizzer on it to atleast calm it down. That is the only thing that works for me., Good luck to you.

I have had Alopecia universalis for over 35 years. I wonder if it was just a preview of PD.

My hair all broke off and disappeared years ago, but my barber tells me that it's common in men. At least it is one thing that can't be blamed on Parkie.

At least it's good to know I'm not alone! I refuse to take supplements for it - I already take 7 different kinds of medication every day. I found an article about how eating the right foods will help. Next step: resisting the bad foods and eating the yucky good stuff. Thank you everyone for your input! I was looking for the easy way out but like the rest of this adventure, the good Lord has given me another challenge and I AM stronger than this challenge!!

I lost hair on a grand scale after my son was born. Some of it came back, there are places that it did not.

Menopause can cause hair loss as can under active thyroid. This hair loss it not just on the head, but general loss of hair all over the body.

I had stopped taking my hormones a while back, my doctor and I had a discussion last week and I have started back on the hormones. I use what is known as "bio-identical" hormones that include estrogen and progesteron. At one point they said I also needed testosteron to prevent muscle breakdown. I tried it for a while but had acne worse than it ever was as a teen!
