Does anyone have any alternative treatment for calming tremors other than taking medication?
Tremors: Does anyone have any alternative... - Cure Parkinson's
Tremors
Lifting wieghts helped my right arm and chewing gum seems to help with lower jaw
I don't know if you're male or female, anyway, doesn't matter, both can do it. If it's an "off" time and you get the shakes. I find knitting calms me down. Concentration.
Not very relevant but a recent study found that those whose PD includes a tremor will find their disease will progress more slowly that those who have no tremor.
Various things - sitting on a recliner chair with my feet helps my leg tremor. The treadmill and the exercise bike at the gym also help or just going for a walk. I was also told by my Neurologist that Parkinson's can progress more slowly in someone with a tremor.
that should have been "feet up". Obviously I can't sit in a chair without them!
hi
I find a sports massage very beneficial on both arm and legs, for me around once every 3 or 4 weeks seems to calm me down and my tremor and stiffness is not so bad
I've had pd for 25 yrs and never had any tremor until 2 months ago when my son got arrested. The tremor is only in my left hand. If I open and close my fist for about 5 - 10 times, it goes away. (For several hrs)
Hi, My husband has RH tremor which is a lot worse since he started meds, I try all sorts to help him, but nothing seems to help. One thing I do know is any kind of stress no matter how small triggers it off, and theres that much stress in our household its a none starter, his tremor was that bad at the table yesterday he had no control over his knife at all, it was like a magnet running his hand everywhere except where he wanted it to be. I think that bad session was because he decided to try and do a bit of strimming, thinking this might of excercised his arm, but it made it worse then ever, I will let you know if I find out anything of use, keep positive love xx
I haven't really discovered anything to remove the tremor completely, but find shaking my arm/hand for a few minutes sometime helps. I make stuffed animals, which are wonderful therapy as they help with fine motor skills and concentration. Do you have any hobbies?
Actually anything that can change your state of mind. As for me, I pray a lot, mostly expressing my gratitude. Exercise, take a shower, eat something. Smoke pot. I have found any stress increases tremor. If I had to choose which reduces my tremor the most, I would say praying and being grateful. I am grateful for everything including but not limited to my wife, my house, my sight, my legs, my healing, ect. I need to control my mind and my thoughts at all times. Does it work? I say about 85% of the time. I have had PD since 2001. I have a list of movements disorders that I have eliminated including walking. IE: I am grateful that I can walk again, without the shuffle and bouncing into walls.
PS: I love this site, because it teaches me that although we all deal with PD, we are all different in our symptoms. I want to express my gratitude in sharing all your thoughts.
If you are legal for MMJ. Try cannabis. Must be an indica strain. One or two puffs knocks out my tremor. I know you said without drugs. This is holistic.
Hi,Totally agree with you,I have this bad rigidity in my right hand.I tried MJ and the rigidity was I could say 90% gone.I thought I would try it again to see if I would get the same result's I did.The MJ gave me a great three days,Like it did the first time,Slept good,More energy and my mood was good,I only took a couple of puff's and it last for three days.My wife found a book that was written by a Police officer who was Dx with parkinsons,He was on all kinds of meds for anxiety the side effect were very hard to handle being a cop he felt guity smoking MJ,But the effect of cannabis help so much.He wrote that cannabis fires off the nerve roots and improved his symptoms. This is Holistic.
I have found that when I get deep tissue massage at least once a week. Twice a week is even better! It helps tremor and all my aches and pains! Be sure it's Deep Tissue Massage! It can be expensive! Check your insurance and check with Massage Therapists to see if they will work out a special payment plan. They are in need of clients too these days! And if you get a good one, you will bring more clients to them! Deal with them. They all need more business! Hope this helps!
Blessings,

I've found that acupuncture helps me immensly. I go whenever I feel the tremor playing up. Having said that I am discovering that praying, medidating qi gong, tai chi and dealing with stress in a positive way and being grateful are all helpful.
I need to add that if you don't already know try to take stress out of your life, or minimize it. It will bring on an avalanche.
please explain
Acupuncture is the only thing that ever got rid of the tremors (inside). The ones that no amount of Sinemet could even touch!
Hash oil, A little dab will do you....sleep..tremors...meds.. good for all
Try eating fava beans read article Fava bean, levodopa, &PD by Kathreynne Holden MS,RD
No, I wish there was. I've had PD since 2007, and was shaking on one side, then the other side started shaking. I pray that the lord will heal me. he can do it.
