I asked my neurologist/movement disorder specialist/top Parkinson's researcher at the University of Arizona in Tucson when I went up there for my regular follow-up appointment this week Monday about IV Gluatathione and PD and if it held any promise for a cure or slowing down progression. He is very open minded.

He indicated the lack of any kind of cooperation between proponents of IVG and the various folks conducting PD research. While this does not represent any directly damning information about IVG, he indicated that most PD researchers are usually quite willing to participate with each others efforts. (For example, CoQ10 researchers or researchers who were doing studies of B vitamins, etc.)

He commented that such reluctance to share information frequently serves as an indicator of this being another possible scam.

More over regarding side effects and efficacy:

Side effects and Contraindications of Glutathione IV

• Glutathione has been used by many to attempt to treat diseases that destroy neurons, such as Parkinson's disease. Intravenous glutathione can be administered by medical personnel when there is a need to eliminate free radicals in a person's system. Although the side effects are rare, there are specific situations and conditions that may increase the likelihood of unwanted symptoms developing in a patient.

• Glutathione IV can create very unpleasant side effects when matched with too much selenium. If a person ingests selenium in levels of 400 milligrams or more in a day, the ions from the metal will merge with glutathione and can cause hair loss, white spots on nails or a loss of feeling in appendages, according to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

• Considerations

Healthy individuals or people with kidney and liver problems can suffer digestive problems from the injection. A report in the Journal of Nutrition shows these effects can cause serious damage to a person's system and cause severe pains, diarrhea and gas.

• Significance

If there are too many antioxidants in a person's bloodstream, the effects of a glutathione IV dosage can be completely nullified, according to the Textbook of Cosmetic Dermatology. This means that a person who needs the compound for a condition may not receive any benefits from the injection.

• Effects

The Aging Studies Institute says that excessive use of a glutathione IV may cause substantial neurological side effects. The drug can be toxic in large dosages, leading to shivers, shakes, anxiety or depression issues. Use of this chemical should always be closely monitored by a medical professional.

• Chronic use of glutathione can lead to increased tolerance of the drug, as stated in the Journal of Nutrition. Within six months, a person needs multiple injections daily to obtain the same benefits as were originally present, which can lead to the likelihood of one of the other side effects taking control of the body.

I hope this helps!

I use the spray but not regularly---I should try to use it on a set schedule daily.

I tried glutathione treatments in Florida under a Dr. Pulmutter , who is responsible for most of the research that has been conducted. It didn't do much for me, but I did see others that had the treatment improve.

I took my Dad for IV glutathione treatments back in 2007-8...but we did not see any effects at all. He did suffer from strong anxiety & depression, but I do not believe this was a direct correlation. Some other patients receiving the treatment and chelation did seem to feel there was positive benefits....I just did not see it in any of them...In the end I think my Dad just enjoyed the social interaction with the other patients. You want to believe something has to help....
