Very common. Not sure what else you'd like to know, but you might want to enter the word "toe" or toes into the search link at the top right corner of the page. You'll be surprised at how much you'll find there!

This could be a form of Dystonia. My foot curls sideways sometimes. Best to check it out with your doctor or neurologist, keep strong xx Christine, England

That is common to me if I don't take my ropinirol. I always think of the rhyme, "and this little piggy ran all the way home."

It is my little toe that curls up. I have recently found that my Sinemet prescription might be adding significantly to this issue, via levadopa-induced dyskinesia which I found on the Internet last week, I reduced my Sinemet intake and the problem improved significantly. I am currently reviewing this with my doctor/neurologist because I think I might be onto to something - my Parkinson's nurse has been increasing the dosage in recent months to try to solve the dystonia problem, and I think that might have made it worse.

The other things which I am looking at as possible options are zandopa, and eating dark chocolate with 85% cocoa - both of which produce dopamine and which seem to be making life much more pleasurable. I know I shouldn't be experimenting with medication, but frankly when my toe curls it is intensely painful and pushing more Sinemet in is probably having the opposite effect to what is intended.

I'm not there yet because it is still early days - but with these options I'm hopeful that my medication can be reviewed to resolve the problem for me.

ALL my toes on the right foot (not PD side) curl up tight in the morning until I take sinimet. I have to wait an hour to take it after my thyroid medication because I have to take sinimet with food. Definitely dystonia.

Hi ,

This sounds like dystonia.

I am a former sufferer of dystonia and want to offer you my support if you are still struggling with this awful disorder or another movement type of neurological disorder.

I have put many years of my life into helping dystonia sufferers find relief, and through my efforts was able to get a medical study done at Johns Hopkins Medical Center with the program that helped me.

It is my pleasure and privilege to work full time in helping dystonia sufferers find relief and get educated

on the health fundamentals that I have discovered that can make a huge difference on improving one's health.

I have been effective in helping dozens of dystonia sufferers find relief and have worked with those in

26 countries and 49 states. Please feel free to call me if you would like to learn more about my work

and how I have been helping others.

There is nothing more enjoyable than seeing those I work with find the relief and hope as I received many years ago.

For more information, please visit my website at dystoniadisease.net.

Thank you.

I have had both toes curl up and stay that way for 24/7 and the pain is so bad that I could not stand it without taking two narcotics - and that did not even work. This went on for over a year and then I decided to change neurologists. That was the best thing I ever did. On my first visit to this neurologist she said to me "you have seen more neurologists then anyone that I know of" and she was right. My suggestion would be not to continue with any doctor or neurologist if he/she doesn't help you.

This doctor that I am now seeing, after a full history re my parkinson disease and a complete examination told me that I had dystonia and that she would advise 'botox injections every 3 months" I had my first shot in my lower leg in the muscle that connects to the big toes 5 days later and will get my next one in July. The first shot was 25 mg in each foot and thereafter it will be 50 mg in each foot. I don;t think I will ever have to change doctors again.

That first shot actually changed my life, I use to have pain 24;7 and now I may have a little pain once a day. I am sure that when I HAVE THE 50 MG SHOT I will probably not have any more pain. It is difficuot for me to understand why my other doctors did not have that diagnose for me and just said I don't really know why this happens but I can tell you that you have neuropathy.

I hope this helps you and that you will get some relief from his horrible pain.
