Knee replacements

Hi I have had my left knee replaced but only the inside bit 4 years ago now. It has never been right since the word go. I am now having a lot of pain in the right knee . This is far worse then I had in the left one before I had the op. However they are telling me it's not too bad. I think personally it's because there is no money for things to be done on NHS. They are also saying that my left leg (the one I have had op on is compensating for the other knee. I think if they don't do something soon it'll mass up the one that they've done. If I was to go private it's £16000 . I'm wondering what to do as one consultant said it was rubbish that I was told the left one was compensating for the right knee. If he's right then having my left on done was a waste of time and money for the NHS. It does worry me as I am in constant pain with both knees and legs.

Hi Shirleyjill,

I had the same op as you to start with on my Right knee but I still had constant pain in it. So eventually they took the half knee out and done the Full Knee Replacement. Surgeon tried to put me off as he said there was only a 16% chance that it would work. I told him then there was a 16% chance it would work so they done the op. 2 Years ago I had the other knee done as well as I had constant pain in it. I have no pain now in either of my legs. It is a sore operation and a long recovery but it’s worth it in the end. Surgeon saying the other leg is compensating for the bad leg is right as you tend to put all the pressure on the good leg. Hope this helps you. They have to tell you the risks before op as if anything happened to you and they never told you is worth their job. So sometimes it looks as if they are trying to put you off.

This is sad!!!!! Because you actually don’t need any operations or drugs to manage your disease! I had to figure that by myself. I took the knowledge I had of the human body and took my health into my own hands and is managing my disease with diet alone and haven’t had any pain for 2 years now! I don’t see me ever needing surgery they told me nothing I do with my diet will help but I knew better. I have been proving them (Rheumatologist) wrong for two years now. Diet change is the best treatment for this disease and many others they just want to keep you sick and making them money.....
