Hello everyone about a year ago I was on vacation in Central America and I was bit by a mosquito when I came back to the states I came back positive for the Zika virus. However I just found out 3 weeks ago and waiting to see what my rheumatologist and my infection disease doctor and see if I will stay with RA or it's side effects of the Zika. Especially because I'm seronegative.
My symptoms initially and flare ups (caused by high stress, poor diet, cold) include moderate joint pain, uveitis, swelling of my axillary lymph nodes (,first symptoms I get to tell me I'm flaring up).
I'm on Rasuvo and Humira. Had only one 5 steroid shots and I have gained 35 pounds in 1 year. Has this happened to anyone? This has been so depressing because of the weight gain and my mild joint pain gets worst.
Anyone having these issues?

Cgalvis43, I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused by your first paragraph... are you saying that the Zika virus caused your RA or that you're unsure if you have Zika or RA? I am on Sulfasalzine, hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil), Prednisone and Humira for my RA. Also, I get steroid injections in my cervical & lumbar spine, 3-4 times a year for degenerative disc disease & spinal stenosis. And yes, I have gained about 30 pounds over the last 4 years Honestly, I do not eat that much and I exercise for 30-60 minutes, 4-6 times a week. Weight gain is, unfortunately, a side effect of steroids. I hope this helps!!
Well these type of viruses can flare up RA according to studies. But I am seronegative meaning my ANA and all of the other labs are negative for RA, but I present with many of the symptoms
