I was switched 2 weeks ago from methatrexate pills. 15mg once a week, to the mtx injections, 20 mg once a week. How long does it take for the injection to lick in. Experiencing minor flares mid week even with 5mg prednisone. The reason she changed me to injections is that the pills weren't holding me throughout the week

Hello. I too have switched from mtx pills to injections. I take my second injection this friday. I was told by my rheumy that mtx injections have a stronger bioavailability than oral mtx.

How long have you been on mtx? It can take between 3-6 months to fully kick in. I started feeling some positive effects on week 9 of oral mtx.

Since you've been on the pills, it shouldn't take long for the injections to kick. Of course everyone is different but I would guess a couple weeks. Good luck!
