My husband is struggling to find 100% cotton trousers that are low slung enough to not sit on his surgical scar. The company we used have now started adding elastase which makes him itchy.
We have even used a tailor with no luck. Do other members have this problem? Any suggestions ?
Would wearing a cotton vest tucked inside the trousers help? So that the vest is next to his skin as opposed to the trousers Or maybe a bigger waist size so that they don't chafe on the scar and hold them up with braces. Has he tried jogging trousers? They are often cotton. What about sewing a strip of cotton material inside the waistband of the trousers.

Chrons sufferers often have hypersensitive around their gut area some can’t even bear a sheet over that area. Steve can’t wear normal trousers , he needs hipsters really. He used to wear chefs trousers in the past .
Just interested to know if any others had this problem .
Similar problem I have 12inch surgical scar running down from top of abdomen. Trousers are a nightmare as buttons rest right in middle of abdomen.I buy trousers a size bigger that are pull on with elasticated waist. I also wear a light vest tucked in which can stop pain and irritation. Similarly underwear can rub on scar also. Tried lots of different knickers and most comfortable are high rise shorts from m & s with good quality material.
It's a bit of trial and error trying on various styles, hope you find what suits you best.

My husband would love to wear an Arabian style dress but he is wacky enough as it is. Wonder how widespread the problem is with Chrons and clothing?

I found going the other way helped - instead of low slung, high waisted. For me, trousers and in particular jeans, the high waisted versions sit above my ileostomy bag and also in the ‘deepest’ part of my scar so no rubbing.
I’ve just asked the other half and he asked if you’d considered Cotton Traders or one the independent catalogue companies. He also suggested Joules, as they might have plenty going cheap at the moment (His idea of a joke - apologies if any Joules employees on here. Personally I’m gutted - have some lovely items, especially my wellies!)

He has tried cotton traders but again hit his scar.He just said hight waisted trousers make him look like an old man bit of vanity methinks.

georgecat1 you are more than welcome 😊 I remember how disappointed & upset I was after my first surgery when I realised my ‘old wardrobe’ was uncomfortable & unwearable. As an after thought, maybe one of the shopping outlet centres might be worth a try - they have all sorts available. Good luck & I hope hubby finds some comfy trousers soon x
