A little redemption is what I needed...

I graduated on August 7th with my final run of C25K... went on holidays a few days later and never did a run while gone (closest treadmill runner :/ so walked lots... but to admit my self consciousness about running in public is a whole other blog)... On my return from holidays 2 weeks later , I attempted and couldn't accompish the 30 minutes... didn't even make it 5 minutes as I had shin splints... I have to admit I almost... almost... didn't want to try again... But I did tell myself that I had only run a few times at 30 minutes so I had not become a pro..hehe.

But I perservered. I went back and did W6R1 and R2 and a few more altered runs, two days ago ran for 20 minutes and today ran for 30 minutes. I honestly say I needed to get to this point again as I was felling a bit deflated and was having trouble finding my mojo... I know I shouldn't have but I am being honest here...lol. I also wanted to listen to my body... my legs were telling me something and on top of the minor setback I did not want an injury!

So onwards I go. Just a minor blip...

Thanks for listening :)

I think you were being sensible! I didn't listen to my body and now I am injured. You can overcome the self doubt but when your body is hurting you have to listen.

Keep going runcanada! You are doing great! What about running early morning when no one is around!

Thanks!! Sorry to hear you are injured, I found it hard enough to swallow my pride and move backwards and still have the motivation to continue... I certainly can't imagine how hard it must be to come back after an injury... hope it is not too bad!

I am not going to worry about the running outdoors for a while.. I have a whole year before I go on holidays away from home again. I am comfortable enough with my treadmill for now. About 13 years ago when I was at a good weight I used to do some short intervals of jogging when I was on walks.. so I am sure one day I will do it again..

Good luck on your recovery.
