Half way through (and still standing!)

Not sure how I did it but I have to admit, the photo isn't me and I'll have to change it. I've got a different photo 'thing' (technical term there!) and when I clicked to see a photo, it appeared on my blog. The photo is actually of my youngest daughter, I'm not that well preserved!

I'm just over half way through the 9 weeks. Sadly, today my lovely daughter in law, who I have to thank for doing the couch25k and introducing me to it, told me that I have a 20 minute run to look forward to on Friday,my 3rd run, so I'm telling myself I can do it.I never listen to the podcasts before doing the runs On wk5,run1, Laura told me how to breathe but I just can't do it. I need more air than I can get through my nose. I had to give up and breathe through my mouth Still, only 4 more weeks+ 1run and I'll be done (so to speak, but I'm not going to stop).

My new trainers have come but I've not had time to open them yet. I shall wear them all day tomorrow to make sure they don't rub on Friday. The box is much lighter than my old trainers so does that mean I'll run more easily. I'll soon be finding out.

  • Hi there, I'm new to running as well and like you I'm 56 years old. I could barely manage the 1 minute runs in the first week and here I am doing run 2 of week 8 tomorrow! Trust the programme and pace yourself and you will get there. We can build up our speed later. Good luck to you with the rest of the programme. Oh by the way, which trainers did you buy as I'm after some nice new ones.xxx

  • Thanks for your encouragement. I think I may be starting off too 'fast' so on wk5's run 3 I'm going to make sure I don't do that! On run 2, the 5 minute warm up took me further than it normally does so that should tell me something! And I must remember about building up speed later too.

I bought Asic's gel cumulus but I've just tried them on and I think I'll have to get the next size up. I'll sit in them for a while while I make up my mind! Also they're quite white so they'll be dirty in no time!
