Anybody a member of Curves?

There's a Curves gym quite near me and i am wondering about going. The proximity and women only aspect appeal but I'm not sure about the American branded product aspect which comes across from their website.

My younger son's partner used to be a member but stopped going to it as there were very few after workout facilities which meant she often couldn't get a shower and ended up having to catch the bus home looking like she had just done 6 rounds with Mike Tyson (without the bruises) She quite enjoyed using the equipment though so check their facilities out before parting with any money.

I did join for 3-4 months a while back, but gave up as i was so fed up of it! and i now get far better results with just running......personally i dont think Curves is good for the mind or body unless u go at least 6 times a week and who the hell has time for that ! so save ur few bob and just run for free!

Ive not been a member of curves, never heard of them, but was a member of dwsports gym. they have loads of classes & the facilities were fantastic. that was one of the reasons for joining them. the shower cubicles were private & I could also take my son swimming during set times for children.

agree that checking the facilities would probably be a best bet.

I know dwsports has open days where you can go & try so perhaps the curves centre has something similar.

btw. gave up membership after I bought a treadmill at home & then started running outdoors ~ no time for gym anymore, although do miss the clenliness of the pool & changing rooms as council one sucks. x

Personally a gym with MEN is a better option for me, something to take my mind of the monotony ;)

Curves has really worked for me as part of a wider exercise programme. I find the 30-minute sessions easy to fit in and adds resistance training into the mix. I also do their Zumba sessions. And I love the circuit idea which means you are never stuck behind the kind of inconsiderate oaf (usually male) who will hog a machine to show off in conventional gyms.
