Help, I'm developing trotters!

My toenails are starting to thicken and are becoming difficult to keep short. Sorry, I know its a revolting topic.

I know it is something runners can develop, but I've been running 5 years and not had this problem before.

Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any tips how to treat or preferably avoid!

Although my trainers aren't top of the range, I've been using the same brand from Decathlon all this time, and there is plenty of room in the toes, so I don't think its that.

Any tips gratefully received.

🍏 👣 Hi Susie as ever it’s difficult to dispense advice about individual medical problems & best advice would be to get a proper diagnosis from a podiatrist or GP. As your feet are SO important it’s paramount not to miss anything!

As Annieapple has said, we cannot really give any useful advice and as she says, a podiatrist is the way to go...

Go and see your GP to check if you have fungal nail infection.Fungal disease is quite common in runners and can cause thickening and yellowing of nails.

A quick look by GP or a podiatrist will rule it out or confirm.
