W2 - CR2&3

Well consolidation run 2 absolutely took me to task and soundly beat me. It was a warm and humid morning on Monday and at around the 2k mark I was a soaking, sweaty mess and totally shattered.

I don't cope well with humid conditions and so I called it a day and walked back to home with my tail between my legs feeling somewhat disappointed as this is the biggest fail in a run for months.

On the plus side I'd just run 2k, and not many weeks before 60 seconds was a challenge, so not totally doom and gloom.

CR3 was a different story, a slight nip in the air as I set out from home, and after a C25K affirming 30 minutes I'd completed my run and as an added bonus had nearly completed the five laps which is my distance target for Fridays.

I'm really looking forward to the cooler weather in the autumn ☺️

I wouldn't call CR2 a fail at all. Running when it's hot and humid is hard work and can even be dangerous if you overdo it. Your body has to work so much harder to stay at the right temperature you were doing really well to make it to 2k.

As you point out there are positives. You have progressed enormously over the last couple of months. You are learning your limits and you have the good sense and experience to know that enough is enough.

If it really bothers you then tell yourself you'll do a 4k instead of a 3k in the autumn when it's cooler to make up for it :)

No such thing as a failed run! You went out and ran 2k…and as you said yourself, an amazing job compared to the challenges of running 60 seconds for the first time!

Coach Bennett of Nike Run Club fame says that it is perfectly fine to change your running plan, even as you’re running it!

So well done on a hot and humid 2k…and I agree, roll on autumn! 🍂🧡🍁

No F words here... just a run, not the one you may have wished for, but a run:)

Chalk it up to a learning experience. I hate the heat and humidity as well. I find its effects to be mental as well as physical.

Getting out the door for a hot and humid 2K is an achievement to be pleased about.
