so I completed my c25k back in December by hurting my knee on my last run🤦🏻‍♀️. Fast forward to now, knee is better, physio helped and I am back to running. So I run approximately 30 mins but the problem is my speed. When I start I feel really comfortable with my run more than at a slower pace but struggle to maintain so I have to stop a couple of times, walk a bit and start again. Should I slow down even tho it doesn’t feel as natural or stick with it and it will eventually build my endurance back up, I didn’t restart c25k back from scratch which is where the problem might be!!

Welcome back! Have you had any advice from your physio about the best way to return to running? Mine was really helpful when I had knee pain. I built back up with continuous runs of increasing duration but it might be that couch to 5k is best for you depending on what you’ve had issues with and what sort of exercise you’ve done in the meantime. That’s a great conversation to have with someone who knows your history.

Pace is often tricky to get right at the best of times, and it can take a while to settle back in after a break. Slowing down is usually the best plan. It can feel a bit unnatural but with practice, you’ll get there again.

Where have you started back? It might be that you’ve been a bit ambitious and you’re better going back a week or two, or even to the beginning. It sounds positive that you’re feeling out of breath rather than your knee bothering you-that’s great news!
