Week 1, run 1 in the bag. I’m 53 and ran my first half marathon at 47. After a few more I let things slide. Now I’m starting all over again, losing weight, getting fit. My first run showed me just how far away I am from my past fitness levels. But it’s a start. I might need a bit of encouragement though. So all tips and good news stories much appreciated x

Enjoy the journey !
This is a great place for support, I’m 65 and started 2 years ago, got up to 10k but lots of things came together this year to interrupt my progress. I’m back up to week 5. My advice would be to take it slow, I run for enjoyment and head clearing (as well as weight management!!) so not bothered if my son can walk faster than I run! Enjoy yourself and you will stick at it, make it a chore and you will find excuses not to run x
Well done on starting, you will find your past experiences of running valuable
Well done DorsetDiva ! You've made the first step from being a former runner to an active runner. I'm in a similar place and starting again and I was shocked that I was right back at the beginning. But you'll soon be pootling along quite nicely just as you used to.
Wow- very impressed with your past successes and that you are starting again and I’d say, do so with confidence, that you know you can do it. I’m doing the same and have just finished week 1. I’ve never previously reached your dizzy heights of distance but, it’s something to aim for in the long run. I’m 57 and it was either start again and keep fit, or suffer the consequences of not doing so in the years ahead so, I’ve opted for running shoes again! You can do it - this place is the best at keeping you going and I look forward to watching your progress 😊🏃♀️
