Third week of consolidation.

Great week for me this week, the first run was for 30 minutes using NRC, nothing eventful happened but I enjoyed it.

Went and had my gait analysed on Tuesday morning, made sure i was in town early for that and had my nose pressed up against the door at 9am willing the shop to open 😆 anyway, after a successful fitting for new trainers I went for a run to try them out in the same day - that was a good day! No aches or pains, no numb foot, and a much faster time without trying any harder. I wondered if maybe it was just a placebo and that I just ran faster because I had the fancy new kicks.

Seems it isn’t a placebo... went out early this morning and ran a 5K - fastest yet! Went on another mystery tour and ended up on some farmers land and saw these little beauties growing (no idea what they are - answers on a postcard please). I feel like they represent my journey so far. Small little things that have been working hard to get stronger underground in the dark and now they’ve poked their heads up above the ground and are trying to get stronger and grow. I started the programme a day before my 43rd birthday in January, it was cold and dark and on some days a little miserable. I ran in snow, ice rain and wind - all I’ve ever wanted to do was to be able to run free without discomfort and with the sun on my back...

Today I feel strong. Today I ran somewhere new. Today I felt the sun on my back.

♥️

Love this - “Small little things that have been working hard to get stronger underground in the dark and now they’ve poked their heads up above the ground and are trying to get stronger and grow”

Very inspirational! In the new world of instant gratification, it is so pleasing to see people work, battle, fall and try again through this forum.

Bask in your success and celebrate the victories, you've earned it.

Yeah it’s not all glorious is it? We’ve both had to dig deep and get runs done! But I’m getting better at recognising the wins.... no matter how small they are! 😊

Thanks DylanTheRabbit ! Summer is coming ☀️

Lovely post SassyF , enjoyed your idea of plants working hard in the dark - just like us. Very glad your new shoes are working out so well. Looking forward to when I can do that run - a bit beyond me just now 🤣

Feeling strong is really the best outcome, better than any particular speed or distance, I'm happy that you're enjoying it so much. Spurred on by your purchase I went for my running shoe consultation yesterday. The shoes I left with were 1 1/2 sizes bigger than my previous ones, so no wonder I was getting cramp! I'm also happy to have some hybrid shoes as I thought I was going to have to choose between road or trail. I'm not trim then or for a bit though as I've still got a niggly hip/ groin and I have a history of redoing the damage before it's fully healed. I have some exercises that should help prevent it reoccurring though, and even if I need to go back to intervals and build up again that's ok - I'm fed up of being uncomfortable because I've tweaked my leg again!

Keep inspiring us with your positive posts!
