First run of Week 4 complete and also the first time running in hail which kept things interesting 🌨️ Trying not to let the forecast for later on in the week put me off my other 2 runs. Happy Monday folks!

Good run and well done on completing run 1 of week 4 in a hail shower, most parts of the UK have been very cold today, the forecast for later in the week is to remain cold but not just as cold as today, onwards and upwards for you to run 2 of week 4, hopefully, hail shower free.

Nice one, that’s when it starts to get tougher as well πŸ™ˆ I don’t think I’ve ever made it past week 4! πŸ€”

Yeah it definitely required more mental strength to finish the run! Physically it went surprisingly well, bit of a sore calf afterwards but eased up during my cool down walk. I'm sure you'll get past week 4 soon! Good luck 😊

I have heard that many runners 'give up' at week 4, I would like to think that if you try again Downhillcol you might be able to continue running C25K beyond week 4, give it another try, this time run a bit slower than the last time you did the course.

This is my 4th try πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ I keep getting leg injuries, the last time was a year and a half ago and ended up with stress fractures 😞 this time round seems to be going well. I’m on Week 2 Run 3 tomorrow πŸ‘ not much problems so far just a bit of shin splints but they are going now I’ve changed my running style.

Very well done Kate! I hope I can manage that when the weather turns down here.

Really well. I'm enjoying them way more than I expected. I thought I'd be rubbish at this and hate it but I'm not. Looking forward to the next one. How about you? And can you post a pic of the snow! When it arrives...πŸ˜‰

I'm loving the runs too! Really enjoying the programme 😁 I'll take a pic of the snow if you do a run in the rain πŸ˜‰

You're a tough run buddy! If I get hypothermia I'm blaming you! However, I may actually be looking forward to the challenge.

Maybe throw on a poncho for good measure πŸ‘€

How about a Paddington Bear type duffle coat? 🀣

Such as this?!

That's more like a parka. I'm thinking of a woollen type coat with big toggles.

Hah! I'll have to try and source some proper equipment!

Same happened to me this morning! I’m on W1R2 (repeating the C25K after a long break) At one point I was running with no arms to swing as I had to use both hands to pull my hood down over my face to protect it from the snowy bullets...😳However, I persevered and completed the run. Hoping for better weather next time for us both!

Haha yes I was using my arms as shields at one point too! Fingers crossed our next runs are less stressful πŸ˜‚ Good luck to you 😊

I’ve just started it for the second time. Had to stop the first time due to arthritis pain in my feet. How did you find week 1? Have you done it before?

C25Kate profile image
C25Kate in reply to BlackMon

First time trying the Couch to 5K programme for me, I followed the brilliant advice from the moderators and other runners which has helped me immensely! I really take my time and try not to push myself too hard to avoid any injury. Sorry to hear about your arthritis pain, I have family members with the same problem and it can be very debilitating; well done for giving it another go! 😊

Had it a few years and was quite shocked when I was diagnosed at 26. Will try again but will take your advice and will take my time. Might take more than one rest day if needs must 😊

C25Kate profile image
C25Kate in reply to BlackMon

That is very young to be diagnosed, I really do wish you all the best! Definitely listen to your body and rest when required 😊

I've never run before apart from awful memories at school. I was really nervous at first and worried I wouldn't be able to do it. But I did! I really surprised myself. Now I'm actually looking forward to my next run when originally I thought I'd be dreading them.Read the posts on here for advice and motivation and do the warm ups and stretches. They really do help. And enjoy it.

Thanks so much! Hopefully will be able to do better than last time (managed week 7). Best of luck to you too πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I don't know what I'd have done if the weather was like this this time last year! I had two false starts and didn't properly start until June. The weather was a little more clement.

Be careful of Week 4. It's a step up in effort from what you've done before. W4R3 was my least enjoyed run -- horrible weather forced me to do it at the wrong time of day in drizzle. In contrast, Week 5 was pleasant in comparison.

When I did my first 10km back at the start of February it was throwing snow pellets (graupel) at me. I'm actually thinking of going out running in sub-zero temps tomorrow morning. I might need my head feeling. πŸ€ͺ

All the best for your next runs.

C25Kate profile image
C25Kate in reply to nowster

I'm actually enjoying running in the rain and cold weather, I could do with my head being checked too. πŸ€ͺ

Thanks for the well wishes, If the rest of Week 4 goes like today I'll be very happy.

Enjoy the rest of your week 😁

Did it! It was my lungs that were cold more than anything else! The joys of being a daft ex smoker.
