I know that distance is not very important, and that the time running is much more relevant [maybe C25K should be called C230MINS?], but how far do people run at their W9R3 graduation run? I'm just curious.
I shan't be running 5K, but I am doing 30 mins comfortably. Today's W8R2 [I did 30 mins] was 2.8 miles, so I'm about 1/3ish mile short, and I don't care.

For my graduation run, I pushed on to 5k (but it took me 39 minutes). I was at about 3.7k/2¼ for 30 minutes typically at that time.
There is a chart somewhere on this site that shows the variation in "graduation distances" and only a small percentage get to 5k in 30 minutes at that time (it would be my 40th 5k before I managed), but I think you're in the upper percentiles.
You're right though, it's the 30 minutes that are key at this stage, the distance is just what it is.
Thanks. I haven't looked at any charts for fear of depressing myself! If what you say is right, I am rather surprised... it was never my intention to get to 5K, but simply to be able to run for 30 mins, which I have now done on W8 Rs 1 and 2. I shall not go for longer times in my remaining runs, but stick to 30 mins as they fit into my route perfectly.Have a great Spring and Summer of running, and get lots in before the maddening crowds are unleashed by our not-so-exalted leaders.
NINE HMs? Cripes... I am very, very impressed. It's not my intention to go further, but who knows now I have read your reply. I shall tell my wife to thank you for me being out of the house for longer!
May I ask a very indelicate question? How old were you when you started C25K and when you did your first HM?
I'm not the original poster, but I'm close to a HM, having run ten miles a couple of weekends ago. I was 51 when I started C25K this time last year. I'm expecting to be able to run a HM in a few weeks' time.
I did do 5km in 30 minutes on my graduation run, but regretted it soon after, with a sprained ankle as my reward.
All the best for your Half. You can do it.I'm 57 and started C25K earlier this year with only a brief interruption for ice. I seriously doubt I will be at 5K a week on Friday, but that was never my goal, and still isn't. Being able to get past the daunting looking W5R3 was my only goal, and that is now ancient history. Just being out running is what I wanted to do, but now you and A N Other have mentioned HMs... I hold you totally responsible for a depleted bank balance due to worn out shoes!
PS. My wife will sat a big thank you for me being out of her hair!!
Cripes, Moriarty! Those figures sound awfully impressive. If I could achieve only half of that I would be so pleased.I think my current ambition for a HM would now be called a Half Snickers!!
You know what? I think I prefer your version. In fact, that's the only time I suspect I'd ever manage a full one...🤣
I've done enough halves to fully respect marathon runners, but never want to emulate one. My general reaction at the end of an HM is "Shoot me now; spare me the agony". It has NEVER been "I could just go and do that all over again".
I can fully appreciate what you are saying! On the other side of the coin - my wife used to work with a beanpole of a chap who travelled the world doing IronMan competitions! Utterly bonkers, if you ask me.I marshall on a Dartmoor night run [5 or 10 miles across open moor etc] and he entered just for fun. He came second*, and then ran back up to my control point for a chat!
* Not knowing the route he followed the leader. Madness. Utter madness.

It's good that you did the 30 mins and I hope that you have a wonderful 2021 of running.BTW, you really increased over the week... was that planned or did you just get fitter and faster?
Not planned, just happened naturally. Plus on my last run my son wanted to celebrate with me so he came on his scooter and we ran so we finished at the park with ice cream! I had to keep up with him 🤣🤣
This is a frequently asked question and a poll was run (pun!) here 2 years ago. Only 10% of graduates manage 5k in Week 9. So for those doing less, there are in the overwhelming majority.
Thanks for that, and perhaps I should have delved a little deeper before posting.My aim at the start was to get to the end and run for 30 mins. It has not been my intention to do the 5K - being an older duffer I will leave that to younger legs - but if I get close I will be over-the-moon, but I will not push for it. I am just so pleased that I have got this far with the weather trying its hardest to be unkind, and a COVID jab. Neither has put me off my stride - except for an icy spell putting paid to my best efforts. I have decided that running when it IS icy isn't much fun!
The average distance that had been achieved on run 3 of week 9 is 4.30 Kilometres, only around 10% of runners run 5K in 30 minutes on their graduation run.
Thanks. I am now doing 4.6ish K and have 4 runs to go. If I should crack the 5K, that would not be by design, but by some flook.I have only ever wanted to get to the 30 min point, which I have now done on my last 3 runs, so I have achieved my goal.
