54yrs old C25K last summer week 9 picked up calf strain, achilles soreness. Physio diagnosed achilles tendonitis. 2 physios and 5 months of exercise i cant run ten paces without heel/foot pain. Anyone else been here? What next? Physio said get a scan but id love to hear from others who have suffered similar and recovered. Feeling :(

I tweaked my Achilles about a year after graduation and on the advice of a physio friend stopped running for five or six weeks (I think) while doing frequent daily eccentric heel drops.

This was despite doing static stretches after every single run. Right from the outset of C25k I woke every morning to a very tight Achilles, which eased within minutes of walking about, but was, I now believe, a warning that everything was not as flexible as it should have been. After I recovered I no longer had the morning tension.

I started running again and very gently rebuilt my duration and never had any issues again until I had a minor recurrence several years later, when I was on hormone therapy for prostate cancer, which can exacerbate and create tendon problems.

Mine was obviously less extreme than yours, but causes me no problems now, so stick with the physios and I am sure they will get you through.

Thanks:) I kinda feel they have washed their hands of me! I've been doing eccentric drops but I am starting to think after reading on runnersworld post, that these might be too much or cause a continuance of problems....
