Calf pain

Hey so I've been doing C25k for 6 weeks now and was due to run the last leg of W6 this morning, but I didn't because my left calf is in pain.

It is very sore and feels tight (kinda always do tbh!) it's ok-ish to walk on but I didn't want to run risk of further injury by running non stop for 25 minutes.

Upto now all has been fine and I'm wondering what I can do to help ease it other than smother it in deep heat!

Any help appreciated! 😊

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress. This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

I've had lots of leg niggles over the course of my C25k journey - it's taken me a lot longer than 8 weeks to get to W8! After pushing on through things in the early weeks, I've realised that it's better to take an extra day or two between runs if it helps sort out things like this. I had to take a week off between weeks 5 and 6 due to some nasty blisters appearing (wet feet and rubbish socks are a bad combination!) and managed to pick up where I left off without any problems. So perhaps you could take an extra day or few and see whether the stretching etc helps with time?

Thank you, I am resting it, using both deep heat and ice on it as well as my prickle mat! πŸ”₯β„οΈπŸ˜‚ Xo

Stretching, icing, elevation, etc. are all tools you can use. Rest the leg and wait for it to stop being painful before running again. Cold may help more than heat, but don't overdo it.

Sometimes I wonder if this is all a conspiracy to keep physios, osteopaths and chiropractors in business. πŸ˜‰πŸ€£
