Well I've just set off to do my W7R2 and failed miserably.Dont know what's up with me today but struggled to reach 20 mins.Very disappointing after such a good start π
Booooo!!!!: Well I've just set off to do my W7R... - Couch to 5K
Booooo!!!!
Never use the fail word here on C25K, put that run down as a practice run, remember you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to.Take a extra day off running, drink plenty of water the day before you run and run, run 2 of week 7 a little slower than you did today, you have already ran for 25 minutes, R3W6 and R1W7, good luck. π
Thanks, I'll give it go another day π
Donβt be disheartened! You havenβt failed at all π. I found weeks 7 and 8 pretty hard, but I just kept plugging away very slowly. All the best for your next run, youβll smash it. ππββοΈ
Thanks sweet.π
Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.
This post expands on the theme healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Cheers π
aww thats a shame you didnt quite get there. I too did that run today and found it really hard going at first, and was ready to give up at 12 minutes, but I slowed down and slowed down and by the last 5 minutes I was in a nice steady rhythm, and even managed that final burst of a bit quicker pace when it was suggested. I have to admit I have timed the run so that I am going downhill for those last 5 minutes!! I just kept telling myself that my body is ready for this (as per advice on here) even if my mind isnt!! LOL . Keep at it, you will succeed.
Thanks,I'll do it if I kills me ππ
maybe dont do that!!!!!
π€£ππ
Ahhh the joys of running, one thing Iβve discovered on C25k is that sometimes it just doesnβt go the way youβve planned it; bad starts turn in to your best run ever and vise versa. itβs too easy to say but try not getting disheartened, it really does come to us all at some point and we usually canβt understand why it happened?Run 1 and 2 of Week 8 were the ultimate in nightmares for me but run 3 was fine, go figure? - as ever, keep it slow, no quick starts, and you will smash it.. face it, youβre now consistently running for longer periods of time with no more intervals which deserves a serious well done you!! π
Thank you,all advice helps ππ
I did struggle on week 7 so just repeated a few runs. Chin up and try when you can good luck π€
Thanks sweetie I'll keep going π
You'll get it next time.... your a lot in front of me I'm only on week 3 and I've just about completed them so you should be proud you've got so far up to now.....I have no doubt you'll smash it next time around......positive thoughts= positive outcome always believe in yourself
Thanks Jonny,I always put to much pressure on myself but your right I'll get there.π
Once your out there just clear your mind of everything it just you and road in front of you.....sometimes just one negative thing in your head can affect your mindset, so for that 30 mins your out it's all about you and the goal your wanting..... you'll get it for sure
They sound like wise words ππ
Sometimes these runs just happen. They are still runs though and they all put distance in the legs; albeit not as much as you might have liked/wanted. Put it behind you, and move on. You've already done 25 minutes twice, so you know you have it in you. Just put it down to a bad day, all of us have them.
Thanks sweet π
You had a practice run today. And you lasted 20 minutes. Could you have done that a month or two ago?
I've been telling myself the same all day, cheersπ
Tomorrow is a new day. You can do it. You stepped out the house. It couldn't be one of many reasons why it didn't go to plan BUT you stepped out the house and you started moving. I hope rest of your week is a success π
Thanks Becclesbug I'll give it another go soon.π
Not a failure - a practice run. That 20 minutes is in the bank. No-one can take it away from you.
Yea your right, feel better about it know after all the positive comments.I will do it next time π
We all get runs like that, class that one as a practice run, the next one will be much better. Stay positive π
I know how you feel, I couldnβt complete w7r1 on Saturday, I had to walk half way and couldnβt run again my legs were so heavy. Tried the same run again yesterday after a few days rest and doing some yoga for runners that I found online, and it was hard but I did it.
Also, drinking loads of water every day so Iβm not dehydrated at all.
Good luck when you try it again π
Nice to know other people have the same trouble, thank you π
Getting out and doing 20mins isnβt a fail, thatβs still a positive achievement ππ»πͺπ»πββοΈ
Thanks honey π
That happened to me at W8 R1. I realised I had to leave longer than one rest day between runs. I left 3 more days then completed it. Iβm now on W9 R2 and will do that tomorrow after 4 days break. The programme will have taken me a bit longer, but that doesnβt matter. It may be the same for you. Good luck, keep going!
It certainly as took me longer but like you say there's no rush. Thanks π
Donβt be disheartened. All the advice below is really helpful. Iβm 68 and I found that spreading out my runs really helped. Stretch and drink water beforehand, that helps too.
We soon learn in diving that our bodies physiology varies a lot day to day and hence when calculating dives there is a margin to allow for this. I notices the other day the cold driving rain, especially when heading into the wind made things a lot harder that session.
So there will always be off days, not fails but put them down to experience, redo them and crack on. If it was too easy it would not give any sense of achievement.
There is a phrase, "It isn't that you can't do it, just you can't yet"
Good luck, I am sure you will be back on track.
True wise words Twiddlefish,thank youππ
Hi Tgiof79...There is such no thing as a bad run..every run is a run.. Every run is a step in the right direction,.. Keep going, with your runs..Your doing absolutely fantastic! π
Thanks sweet your right and I'll definitely stick at it ππ
