I've been lurking and looking here for the past few weeks, appreciating all the great tips and support being given, but I had to make an account to say that I got to week 9 and can now run 30 mins non stop!!
I feel so proud of myself, in the first week, the 60 second runs were a real push for me. I'm still not to 5k, but that's my next goal, after a few weeks of consolidation.
I've picked up plenty of obscene running gear along the way, all technical clothes, special socks etc. it's so fun picking them out.
I have been suffering from sore shins the whole time though, no sharp pain, just aches the day after... I've tried lots of things but I'm hoping this will ease as my body gets used to it.
Thanks for having me!

Taking an extra day's rest might help for a while with those shins, especially as you are running 90 minutes a week now. You are allowed to do 3 runs over 8 days. Just not 3 runs over 8 weeks!
Congratulations on your graduation . You may be running too fast if you have shin splints. Try reducing speed over the consolidation and see if that helps. If not it could be your shoes. Unfortunately, shoe fitting is not available at the moment but hopefully we will be there soon abs a visit to a specialist running shop might be in order.
Congratulations. Not an easy achievement but so worthwhile.
I had the same issue on the shin splints throughout. Once I hit 30 mins I was forced to take a week off for other issues and, thankfully, they’ve not plagued me since.
For me I think it was the speed of the increase in distance/time that my body just couldn’t take so I’ve stuck at the same distance more or less since graduating a couple of months back to let my body strengthen up.
