The problem with graduating on 23rd December πŸ˜†

Did I maintain my running regime over Christmas? Did I heck!

I'd been so good at running 3 times per week, and I felt so fantastic about graduating that I was sure I'd keep it up over Christmas but hey, best laid plans and all that!

I finally got back to it last week, a few pounds heavier and - as it turned out - somewhat less fit. But CR4 this evening marked the return to 30 minutes and do you know what? I'm not that bothered about the lapse. I'm in this for the long run (so to speak!) and there are always going to be those times when life gets in the way. Once upon a time I would have regarded it as such a blow to reaching some imagined goal that I'd probably have given up in disgust, but now I'm completely re-defining my old ideas of success and failure, so that every time I put on my trainers and start to run I've succeeded, regardless of how fast I go or how far I get.

Turns out C25K is turning me into a philosopher πŸ˜‚

I graduated on 18th December - and after running up to and on Christmas Day (which had been a personal ambition of mine) promptly allowed myself to indulge and relax into the festive spirit... 🍸

Good job getting back to it - I'm back as well. We'll smash this year!

Fantastic. Well done!

Here's to 2021!

Maybe your body needed a break; the extra portion of roast spuds and Christmas pud, less so. Get back on the proverbial horse. Maybe that run after the break made you realise you much you loved it. You will improve one you get back in the groove.

Over Christmas I only took one run off, but also I did not say no to the odd Celebrations chocolate (or seven)! So I found I was catching up, the first week!

I don’t know if my body needed a break, but it certainly got one πŸ˜‚.

Well done for only having the one day off - your self control is admirable!

Well done and graduating must have been a great "early" Christmas present which money can't buy ! You've certainly cracked the "mental" part of running - keep on running is my only philosophy at the moment ! πŸ˜‰

Congratulations on graduating. My daughter decorated my beanie with tinsel, so I had to run on Christmas day.

I graduated around that date too. I've managed to keep going (other than a bit of a hiatus in the Christmas week) and have done 6 CR's of 30 mins. Each one, curiously, got progressively slower! I've now done a couple of 5k runs too, at an even slower pace. But, like you, I'm not too worried - at least I am still running, and still enjoying it!

Snap BellaTheCook...graduating in December was the best...& like u I had big plans to 'keep it up" ...getting back there now, slow & steady. We can do this πŸ™Œ

The wonderful thing is, you can skip a fortnight and your body can still cope with a run. The longest I've gone without a run was 19 days, and that next run went really well, I was so surprised!
