Hi all. So I have done the first two runs of week 7. Very proud to have made it this far. Only thing is my breathing has improved but my legs feel sooooooo heavy and sluggish. Any tips? I am going slowly but at times feel almost like I should stop and walk. I haven't though, and I am glad I have persevered as I was in fact able to do it both times. Is this purely mind over matter? Has anyone experienced similar?
Week 7: Hi all. So I have done the first two... - Couch to 5K
Week 7
Are you hydrated? Guide to hydration is in the 'how to do this' info. And are you doing pre run dynamic stretches and post run static stretches? It all helps. Good luck.
Well done.Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.
This post about hydration explains the crucial nature of adequate water intake for runners
It can be dehydration, I've struggled with drinking so much but its very important to. But also I find over distance my legs get bored with the same tempo. Maybe try changing your pace for a little bit or purposely run up or down hill. That seems to wake them up and feel a bit more spritely. When you finish C25K and have consolidated, then you can start mixing things up with distanced, tempos and doing fartleks training.
Try drinking more on the days between runs, hopefully this should help!! Good luck in W7R3!!
Great info, everyone - many thanks. I do try to be mindful with hydration but can probably do more there. I am also thinking I may have a return of anaemia (a recurring issue for me) so will top up my iron for a few weeks which may also help.
