Forgot to post run 1 and 2, but a run down on how it went having never done running before only a little power walking on the treadmill at the gym..

I was super nervous for my first run. I started my brisk walking which I needed to slow down as I realised when everyone told me take it slow I needed to slow down so I felt comfortable after I did i felt alot better doing it. when the first 60 second run started my heart was racing and had no faith in myself to be able to complete, but I did it. I was so out of breath not being in good shape but I did it.

The second burst of 60 seconds came and I slowed it down to how I felt I could do it like everyone kept telling me and before I knew it,I was running not fast by any means but I was running. I chose Jo Whiley who was a massive help and was so encouraging her voice seemed to make me want to push through it. By the end I was emotional and so proud of myself because I really didn't think I could do it but I did.

My legs were like jelly and my heart was racing and was so out of breath but I felt so positive like I couldn't wait for the next one, because I knew the more I did the more I would be able to run without feeling as unfit as the last time. Run 2 i was the same I felt out if breath struggled and had to slow down, but I was positive that I could do it, like I had to prove to myself that I can.

By run 3 I found myself power walking a little faster then the last 2 times which made me feel so good but then I had to slow down as I was getting ahead of myself, even thou I was taking it slow I still felt happy that my body felt I could go that little faster in the beginning even if I did have to slow down. Made me a little excited at the possibility of going further and further the more I do.

Trying to balance my C25K with eating better aswell as a friend has recently told me you can't outrun a bad diet. So I'm taking it 1 day at a time by cutting out snacks and replacing them with fruit and alot less carbs as I didn't realise just how many I was having and I mean it was ALOT!

A friend told me to document my runs for accountability and keeping track of how I'm doing, its actually so helpful to see from where we start and the journey in-between to the end goal. I hope I continue past the end goal and continue to run and not just get fit but stay fit!

Well done TheJiggler, you’ve started your journey, that’s a big step. Firstly try to relax, you’ll find you run better. Secondly you mentioned being out of breath, getting your breathing right is very important. If you’re not taking enough oxygen into your lungs you’ll get out of breath. Next run take a nice slowish deep breath in through your mouth, then purse your lips a little as you exhale. Get this into a rhythm, nice steady deep breath in, then out and so on. Imagine your body as a machine and the oxygen is the fuel you need.....try it, it works....Good Luck for your next run 👍
