I graduated a few weeks ago and was very happy to do so, but I don't find my consolidation runs getting any easier. 30 minutes is still a real struggle for me, even though I run very slowly. I do at least two 30 minute runs per week, sometimes with a third run of 30 mins and sometimes with a third run of 3 x 5 mins at a faster pace. Is there a point when 30 mins will seem a bit easier and I can attempt to run for longer or go faster?
When will it get easier!: I graduated a few... - Couch to 5K
When will it get easier!
See Irish-John 's post below. Like all new skills this takes time. Have to read the guide to post graduation running? Lots of good advice there. It does gradually get easier so do stick at it, you could have a ball!
Thanks!
You posted your graduation less than three weeks ago..... ..you are still a very, very new runner.Stick with the regular runs and in six months time, no doubt, you will find 30 minutes easy, especially if by then you are doing some longer runs as well.
C25K graduation does not confer any magical powers, it just means you have covered the basics and as long as you continue training and cross training your strength will build along with your physical efficiency.
There are no short cuts so patience is required, but will be rewarded.
I can’t say when exactly it will get easier, but I know that it will! You’ve come so far, stick at it and let that stamina build. Are you eating and drinking enough before a run?
Thanks for the encouragement - always have a large whiskey and burger before running, so well fueled! 😜😜
I'm in exactly the same position as you! I graduated early November and am still struggling to do the 30 min runs. On a couple of occasions I've not been able to complete it. But then I had about a week off due to a problem with my ankle/foot, and my first run after that was great and I ran the 30 mins without much hassle! So maybe you need a week off? It can be quite restorative.
Thanks Itselenax. I did once take a week off, but I think I actually found it harder next time, but I'm glad I'm not the only one in this position
