Today I started run 1 of week 4, and what a cold and rainy run it was 😂 I wasn’t feeling as motivated today due to the awful weather and how generally shattered I was feeling at the end of my shift, but I’m glad I went out
This week was the first week that I ran more than I walked, so of course it was hard. Like with running 3 mins last week, I found that my legs being tired was one of the hardest things. But I still managed to stay in control of my breathing the whole time. There was a moment during my first 5 minute run that my legs were getting so tired that I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to keep it up, but I pushed on and I did it! The second 5 minute run was easier than the first, I think partially because the end was in sight 😂 but also because I knew I could do it and once I had pushed past that feeling of tiredness in the previous run I got used to it.
I’ve found the longer runs to be quite challenging mentally. Like whenever Sarah says there’s a minute left, it feels like the longest minute of my entire life. 😂 I stopped thinking about the time as much towards the end of my run and I felt much better. I know I have much longer runs in store, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to get the hang of switching my brain off a bit as the weeks go by!
I’m gonna do run 2 on Sunday, it’ll be interesting to see if it’s any easier as I have the day off and can run first thing - so I won’t be worn out before I’ve even started like I was today 😂
We’ll see what happens on Sunday! But I feel like week 4 might be the first week that I repeat. Even if I manage to complete every run like I did today, I want to really feel comfortable with it before I move on. And after all, it’s not a race 😁
