I know its not all about pace. Slow and steady is better.

But just wanted to know if I was around average.

Maybe this post not allowed, if not apologies and let me know so I can remove it

Thanks In advance

Most runners don't bother too much about pace at that early stage but just as a matter of interest when I ran run 3 of week 5, the 20 minute run, my pace was a little over 8 minutes per kilometer, by run 3 of week 9 it was just over 7 minutes per kilometer and my quickest 30 minute consolidation run was around 7 minutes per kilometer, if you run at 8 minutes per kilometer that will be a 40 minute 5K, 7 minutes will be 35 minutes for a 5K, 6 minutes per kilometer will be a 30 minute 5k and so on, however, don't worry about pace when doing the course, not until you graduate and after several 30 minute consolidation runs you can do the C25K +Stepping Stones podcasts with Laura, they are pace, speed and stamina, but in the meantime take your runs as you say, slow and steady.

This forum has members in their teens and their eighties, with a vast range of weights, shapes abilities and disabilities............so are you asking twenty year old male, an 83 year old woman or one of our one legged members? There is only one person that it is sensible to compare yourself to.......and you are doing great.

Only a small proportion of graduates from this forum who responded to a poll, managed 5k in 30 minutes by graduation healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Graduation requirements are that you complete three thirty minute runs, regardless of distance.

I’ve done it 3 times.

First one was 5:36/km and then pulled up injured in week 6

Second one was 5:32/km and then pulled up injured in week 6

Third one was 7:00/km and not quite injured in week 6

My initial attempt on 2 Aug was about 6'27"/km.

My second time round (as a graduate, post injury) on 17 Oct was a deliberately slower 6'55"/km.

But it's not helpful to compare yourself against someone else. I'm a 6ft tall skinny guy with stork legs and weird shoes.
