Very late posting these, and probably forgotten much about Run 6 . Run 7 I do remember ๐ ( funny how you remember/dwell on the rubbish stuff in life ๐๐ )
Still, theyโre just runs ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Iโm trying to keep to straightforward 30 minute runs and Run 6 went really well , I felt the usual niggles for the first 8 minutes and the usual โ why am I doing this again ?) ๐๐ then I usually settle into a nice pace until about 20 minutes , run another five and then find the last five a bit hard going.
This run seemed to flow really well though and I was โjust runningโ , usual route round the village , down the long road that leads to the sea but stopping when I run out of streetlights. Lovely moonlit evening , lots of warmly lit houses and weather quite calm .
This was the kind of running I imagined aspiring to way back at the beginning , things were falling into place ๐๐
Setting off on Run 7 I felt confident after that last run and thought Iโd just have a repeat of that thank you very much ๐ I had gone out a bit earlier so it wasnโt yet dark.
Set off through village ,again at a nice steady pace ( which Iโd noticed was improving and my comfy pace is now faster ) . Another lovely evening , the first track on my playlist was the sublime six minutes of โThe Riverโ from Bruce .
So sublime, in fact that I thought โletโs head out for the coast road โ, still plenty of light after all !
Trouble is darkness can fall all of a sudden and on the dark, dark road that leads to the dark, dark sea I found myself running without the bright, bright chest torch that was still in the post .
I was quite confident that there would be no cars as there are only a couple of houses at the end of the road . ( if there was one they would be well within their rights to give me a good blast of their horn )
I did just feel incredibly stupid for heading down this road , I just shouldnโt have chanced it , I turned back and tried running along the golf course which runs parallel all the while thinking โstupid, stupid, stupidโ .
As my timings were now all to pot I also had to to do a few loops of streets( the ones with streetlights๐๐) to make up my 30 minutes.
So a terrible run , self inflicted , lack of judgement , once again went off script ....... why do I do that ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Still, as I said Iโm late posting my runs and I have one more to post ..... Run 8
....... and Run 8 was โSimply Greatโ ๐๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ

Probably give the 30 min runs another week, then I might try the plan suggested to CazzaW by Roseabi as follows
Week 1&2: Run 1, 20 minutes; Run 2, 30 minutes; Run 3, 35 minutes.
Week 3&4: Run 1, 20 minutes; Run 2, 30 minutes; Run 3, 40 minutes.
Week 5: Run 1, 20 minutes; Run 2, 30 minutes; Run 3, 45 minutes.
Week 6: Run 1, 20 minutes; Run 2, 30 minutes; Run 3, 50 minutes.etc.
The basic idea is to reduce one weekly run to 20 minutes, and increase another one by 5 minute increments. I have suggested that it might be best to repeat the first two weeks, but you can carry on repeating weeks if you feel the need.
So I might give it a go , not sure about 20 minute runs , last time I felt 50% was settling into it then the run was nearly over , but that was a couple of weeks ago , might be worth a try ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Yes, Iโm certainly interested in increasing the amount of minutes spent jogging. Iโve seen a different plan where you add on a percentage...but canโt remember what ๐
Although Iโm in Week 3, due to non running problems, Iโve only completed 6 runs so far...so will carry on with 30 minutes for at least another week.
Iโm hoping to try a different road route tomorrow, but the weather looks appalling โน๏ธโ๏ธ
Think itโs 10% per week ? I know weather is pretty mixed here . 3 days of lovely mornings but then deteriorates fast . Today looks a bit of a bleak start.
Week 7 sounds like a blip but good from an experience point of view. Adjusting to the darkness is something I have been thinking about a lot and still haven't fully figured out but focus on the positivity of runs 6 and 8 ๐. What a gorgeous photo by the way of the sea; the flash of turquoise in the sky is beautiful!
Ps. A word of wisdom (or should I say avoid my slip of stupidity ๐). When said torch eventually arrives the post, do not do what I did and accidentally switch it on when looking directly at it! I blinded myself for a few minutes hahahaha ๐คฉ๐ซ. They aren't lying when they say they're powerful...
๐๐yes blip covers run 7 nicely , I was so cross with myself ! It was one of those situations that I was so embarrassed to have done something so stupid even though there was no one there to witness my stupidity ๐๐
Getting over it now ๐ thanks for tip re torch ...... yet to arrive ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ I know itโs made in China but itโs clearly coming from there on a boat ๐ข๐ข
There was lovely moonlight on the water that night , I think itโs to be a full moon on Halloween this year but Iโll wait for the torch ๐ง๐งโโ๏ธ๐๐๐งโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ
So, all round fantastic then as you have another 3x 30 minute runs chalked up ๐ and, as Iโm so rudely late in responding ๐ youโve probably done another by now ๐
Iโve been thinking of you, in fact everyday ๐ as thereโs so much Bruce stuff around on Radio 2 currently, so Iโve been wondering if youโve heard it or listen to his show. Radio 2 is one of the things that keeps me sane and more connected to home and I try and listen to whatever programme it is at the โcorrectโ time for me. Itโs very disconcerting otherwise for example listening to Steve Wright when I get up ๐
Lovely photos as usual thank you ๐ and I hope the torch has arrived by now ๐ค
Thanks ๐ and yes I think thatโs the way to look at it 3 more runs in the bank .
I think thereโs a myriad of โthingsโ that can go well (or not ) that will dictate how you feel about that particular 30 mins ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Sometimes my expectations run away with themselves too , I am still a new ( & older ( not old ๐๐) runner) , it still isnโt just eas6 breezy every time ๐๐.
Regardless of how much further or faster any of us run in the future we still have this new ability to run , which in itself is awesome ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Run 8 I have yet to post and also yes I did run 9 today .
Run 8 was my most enjoyable to date and funnily enough I ran โaccompaniedโ by Dermot OโLeary & Bruce ๐๐ on Dermotโs BBC Sounds podcast . It was excellent . Iโm saving Bruceโs radio shows for future runs too .
Love Radio 2 , so many good presenters , love Johnny Walker on Sundays but do miss Simon Mayo ( & his drive time shows & book club ๐)
Lovely that you can listen over the water too ๐
Have a good weekend yourself ๐ we are expecting a wild one ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธโ๏ธ๐จ
I used to listen to Simon Mayo driving home from work ๐
Am very thankfully for the BBC Sounds App ๐ฅฐ
Iโve deduced (from inspirational posts on here from people of all ages and abilities) that age seems to make no difference ๐คทโโ๏ธ Iโm not young either... older/very, very late middle aged ๐ค๐... but as you say itโs a new found ability and Iโve decided that just getting out there 3 times a week is the important thing and I accept now that all runs will be different... good, bad or ๐คทโโ๏ธ... but keeping going is โthe thingโ ๐
Sorry you have a wild weekend coming up (and Iโm presuming not on the party front ๐คฃ) weโre expecting a cold one, weโve just had the first sleet flurries ๐ฌand I ran in 1 degree this morning ๐ฅถ Will be huddling in the warmth and enjoying a days rugby on tv tomorrow, canโt wait ๐
England ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ, what about you? When home weโd go to watch as much live rugby as possible. Where my husband was based we were the nearest to Kingsholm so support Gloucester and used to drive then get the Park and Ride, I loved it. I trained in Exeter thoโ 1981-84 so love Devon and thatโs where weโre going to retire too when we come back, I canโt wait. Will then be Chiefs supporters ๐ I love going to Twickenham too and always pretend that when everyone sings Sweet Caroline, they are singing to me ๐๐ Weโve been to the Millennium Stadium, and Rome and had hoped to get to Murrayfield before we left but ran out of time. So there, the Aviva stadium and Stade de France to come.
Funnily enough I preferred the 1 degree to hot and humid but itโs only going to get colder now, apparently minus 20 is not uncommon ๐ฌ I do worry the weather might derail my progress but Iโm going to carry on as long as I can ๐ช
Wow ! Youโre passion certainly lies with the rugby. We are probably more so โSix Nationsโ fans having few links to rugby really .
Maybe because we have daughters ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ , not so many girls playing if any when they were at school.
I wasnโt that sporty at school (rowing & hockey passable ) .
Anyway I will be singing โFlower of Scotlandโ ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ but I have a big soft spot for the Welsh ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ So may be cheering for them ( think they need a lift ๐)
My friends husband is Welsh , is very passionate about his rugby and will be sooo missing getting to the games .
After that horrid weather forecast we have a blue sky , sunny day here and not cold at all ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ but the wind is whistling and whipping up the sea. ๐๐
I think itโs causing havoc with the game in Wales too ๐จ๐จ๐ฌ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ
Hope England do well for you ๐๐ ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐
