Have done quite a few 35-40 min runs while consolidating. Last night set off too late so had to turn around early as it was dark (I live very rural, so run on the roads with no streetlights). Thoroughly enjoyed my run, but can’t help but feel like it was a failure as it was only 20 minutes. My head knows that’s not true, but I can’t shake it and feel disheartened! Does this feeling go away with more experience? I know a healthy running regime includes some shorter runs but I can’t get my heart to understand this!
(I should add... I live in the Caribbean now so we fortunately don’t have the long winter nights like I used to in the UK!)

I like to go out sometimes and do shorter, faster runs to work on pace. I went out one morning to run for 2K. I felt like something was missing as I headed back home after less than 15 minutes running 😀 Remind yourself that it’s good to mix up your runs. It’s certainly not failing. It’s better for your running if you can vary your runs and it keeps things interesting. I like to add a long, slow run at the weekends, too. 😀
