Week 3 getting there

So I have never been a runner and being a 6ft 1 17 stone bloke i was never going to be a marathon runner. I decided to do this couch to 5k more to make me feel better mentally and physically as well as give me a challenge. I’ve always been put of exercising as I always thought I would just drop dead from a heart attack or something. (My anxiety) anyway enough was enough and I thought I’m just going to do it and see what happens.

I’m now nearly completed week 3 and definitely feeling the benefits and definitely feeling stronger mentally and physically I’m also eating a more balanced diet. I’ve lost over a stone in 3 weeks combining the running and better eating. I so hope I can complete this. I wish you all good luck and keep running we can do it 👍💪

Thank you limberlou, I thought after a run I would be so tired but I actually have more energy and ready for the day 👍💪

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Fantastic.... this is a terrific start!

Link this with a healthy eating regime... pop in some rest day strength and flex work and you are on to a winner. Keep posting your progress too please!

As Edison said.... "If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves"

Well done! Running helps us to trust our bodies and is so good to increase energy and confidence. Humans were built to run, it's just that most of us stopped running beyond childhood. Keep it up, you're doing great.

I’ve just done Wk3 run3, so we’re very much the same place. Well done, you! I’m much smaller than you, so probably not so much joint impact when running, but am trying to get fit again after a working life spent sitting on my backside. I’m amazed how much easier it is than my fearful expectations...

Just hope (like you) my heart is coming along with me on this journey!

Well done to you also, yes joint impact is a killer at present but getting there with rest. Looking through the future runs they seem impossible but sure we will get there. Wish you all the best keep going 👍💪

You CAN complete this! It’s a journey using a proven plan and the fact that you are positive and determined will make all the difference. Enjoy it and in moments of doubt - spill it all out in this forum and people will get you through your fears/doubts.

Well done for your achievement so far 😊

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I certainly will be posting, I’m so happy I’ve finally found where all you good people have been hiding. I lost faith in people but the response I have had from a little post has certainly given me faith that there’s still good people out there. Thank you keep safe

Great start and your positive attitude will see you through to the end. Although 7 inches shorter and 3.5 stone lighter than you when I started, I hadn’t run in over 40 years. I’m now 2lbs short of 2 stone lighter and graduated three weeks ago. If I can do this then you can as well. Positivity and belief in yourself are the keys.
