Hey everyone 👋🏻,

So I’m new to c25k and currently really enjoying the programme. However the last run I did I had to stop 10 seconds short because of stitch pain and DOMS. Does anyone have any advice on how to cope with these two issues?

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

You are probably running too fast........you need to be able to speak clear ungasping sentences as you run.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

What other exercises are you doing that are giving you DOMS? They're not a bad thing (they're a good thing!) and it's not the end of the world to run with DOMS.

But stitches? Normally a sign that you've run at the wrong time re: drinking and eating. Or you're too fast....

I follow a workout programme but it’s mainly weight based. The Dom’s are hard to cope with when running and make me wanna stop because I’m sore.

I think the stitch is because I’m running a bit too quick! I’ll try and slow down for next time.
