Hello long time lurker first time poster. I’m a 47 year old male and I am currently on week 4 of c25k. I am finding I am doing quite well thanks to the good advice on this site. This is my second time around as I had a go at jogging in 2019 I was doing quite well but went away on holiday for two weeks and didn’t do anything, when I got back I found it hard to get back into it the I fell into a mental health funk and put all the weight I lost back on. I am determined to keep it up this time around but am a bit worried about what to do when going away on holidays to a hot climate, not going to be for a while obviously 😂.Do you still run when you are in a tropical paradise?🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏝🏖

I tend to go on the hotel’s dreadmill and do a couple of 5k runs.

Hello thanks for the reply never really used a treadmill. Is it much different from outdoors?

It’s a lot more boring and I think it’s actually harder. Here’s a conversion chart for you. Treadmills tend to measure speed in kph so you need to know what pace that equates to. I find it harder to go my normal pace on a treadmill.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

One of the joys of running is doing it in new places.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Hello, welcome!

I had a holiday to a hot country when I was consolidating my C25K. I made sure I got up half an hour before sunrise. Fifteen minutes getting ready, and then off for a run in the cool part of the day. When the sun came up it was noticeably hotter, but the shadows from the buildings were still nice and long so I ran mostly in the shade.

It's a nice way to explore the town you're staying in. I spotted a few places I thought would be nice to see later in the week, or places that looked nice to eat at.

I didn't run as far on holiday as I'd been running at home, probably only about 60%, and every three days rather than every other day. But it was enough to keep me in the habit.

Well done on getting to W4 and I hope you enjoy the next few weeks of C25k :).

Welcome! 😄 Well done returning to the program- it’s obviously calling to you!

I think by the time you can have a hot holiday you may well have a more established running habit & so not find it a problem.

Early morning in hot places is what Mr E does. I struggle with running in the heat, so if bike hire is available, I cycle early morning instead - at least an exercise pattern is still kept. 😄

I’ll just not party too hard so I can get up in the morning 🤣.
