I started my C25K journey on a treadmill until I managed that first 20 min run, then I took my run out in public...but today, for the first time since about May, I went back to the treadmill.
Now, I have already completed the programme, and ran 15 consolidation runs ...none shorter than 30mins, and all at a better speed than the treadmill. But oh man, today on that treadmill....I slowed down after 10mins. All I can think is I have lost the mindset for the dreadmill, and I would need to train my brain to get back into that bore.

I absolutely agree! I began on the treadmill and moved outside at the beginning of week 5. Now I love running outside! On the odd occasion when it’s dark or really wet I jump on the treadmill and I hate it! The pace always feels really fast but my splits are really slow. It gets go hot in my tiny spare room and the boredom kills me! I can’t do more than 20 minutes. If I have to run on the treadmill I do the Speed podcast as the intervals make things a bit more interesting and it’s only 20 mins.
Haha....I can picture the row of treadmills, slowly speeding until the victim drops and is dragged along....maybe it has its roots from medieval days....it's starting to sound like something I saw in school history books!
i think its harder....partly cos of the balance issue....and the settings issue etc etc but also... i am starting the programme and on wk1r3 tomorrow, and i went out to do a walk today and couldnt resist running for 30 seconds on the pavement and oh boy... easier!x
My only experiences with a treadmill have either been when getting gait analysis done or sports physio, so I can't comment, but from just those few minutes I've spent on one doing those exercises, I don't think Icould runany distance on one.
I have no access to one where I live, so all my running has been outdoors in all weathers. There are time when it brings back horrible school cross-country flashbacks, but on the whole I just enjoy being outside.
