Post holiday run

Having been lucky enough to have a foreign holiday this week I ran 5k last night for the first time in nearly 4 weeks. The time was average but oh my how the body is punishing me today. Knees hate me ankle me want to throttle me and my whole body just wants to give up.

Was out in new trainers, Nike downshifter 10s, they are lighter than the previous pair I ran in and I thought I noticed the difference straight away.

Well done.

Did you have a gait analysis before buying your shoes?

Try alternating old and new shoes to break in both the does and your legs to different support.

No I didn’t have a gait analysis

Without some assessment of your running style, preferably a gait analysis, you are taking pot luck as to whether your shoes are providing you with appropriate support.

Well done for getting out there. Giving up after a change in routine is always a risk for a new runner when the habit isn't ingrained. Take it easy, have a couple of rest days and build up gradually.
